Explore Art Beyond the Canvas Through Hands-On Creative Projects
Our Mixed Media & Sculpture Program is designed for adults who want to explore forms of art beyond traditional drawing and painting while experimenting with a wide variety of materials, textures, and three-dimensional processes.
Through guided weekly projects, students will work with rotating materials and techniques to explore sculpture, printmaking, dimensional art, assemblage, texture, and mixed media.
This class focuses on hand-built and mixed media processes rather than traditional pottery or wheel-thrown ceramics. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with many different ways of creating three-dimensional and tactile artwork without being limited to one material or style.
Throughout the course, students may explore topics such as:
• Air-Dry Clay Sculpture & Hand Building
• Wire Sculpture
• Papier-Mâché
• Cardboard & Found-Object Sculpture
• Assemblage Art
• Relief Sculpture
• Linocut & Block Printing
• Printmaking Techniques
• Plaster & Texture Techniques
• Dimensional Acrylic Painting
• Palette Knife & Heavy Texture Painting
• Collage & Mixed Media
• Paper Sculpture
• Fiber, String & Textile-Based Art
• Wood & Natural Materials
• Model Making & Construction
• Experimental Art Materials
• Recycled & Upcycled Sculpture
• & much more! Each month introduces a new material, process, or creative focus. Students will learn how different materials behave, how artwork can be constructed in three dimensions, and how artists combine multiple mediums to develop an idea into a finished piece.
Some projects may take several weeks to complete, allowing students time to plan, build, dry, paint, decorate, refine, and develop their work across multiple class sessions.
Classes are paid via monthly subscription and are ongoing.

No previous sculpture or mixed media experience is required. Students will learn techniques together through guided instruction while also being encouraged to make individual creative choices and develop work that reflects their own interests and style.
Whether you already have an art practice and want to experiment with new mediums, have always wanted to try sculpture, or simply want a creative outlet where you can explore a little bit of everything, this class offers a space to learn, experiment, and create.
Students leave with completed artwork, experience working with a variety of materials, and a broader understanding of the many different ways art can be constructed, layered, printed, sculpted, and assembled.
