Character Design for Comic Books & Graphic Novels

Bring your characters to life!

Every great comic book or graphic novel starts with memorable characters. Whether you're creating a superhero, a fantasy adventurer, a cartoon animal, or a character entirely your own, great character design is about more than just drawing—it's about creating personality, expression, and visual storytelling.

Join us at The Artist Realm for a fun, hands-on workshop exploring the fundamentals of character design for comic books and graphic novels.

We'll cover the building blocks of creating believable, engaging characters, including proportions, anatomy, personality, and the visual details that make a character unique. You'll also learn how character design contributes to storytelling and how even simple design choices can communicate a character's personality, background, and role in a story.

In this workshop, you'll explore:

    •    The fundamentals of character proportions and construction.

    •    Creating memorable characters for different genres and storytelling styles.

    •    Developing personality through expressions, poses, and visual details.

    •    Making characters believable, expressive, and engaging.

    •    Using character design to strengthen visual storytelling.

Whether you're a beginner, an aspiring comic book artist, or simply someone who loves to draw, this workshop will help you develop your ideas and build a stronger foundation for creating original characters.

All ages and skill levels are welcome, and all art supplies are included!
